Totten’s readers know it’s a complicated picture but the picture’s coming into focus. Nowhere else except possibly Ramadi are the security gains of the past year more evident; CNN, to its great credit, has been tracking them all along. This won’t last if Maliki can’t absorb at least some of the Sunnis there into the security forces, but the recent compromise will hopefully buy some more time. Cross them fingers.
