Video: Steve Novick's "hard left hook"

Short, funny, left-wing: It’s as if Patton Oswalt were running for Senate! This guy’s considerably more impressive than Oswalt, though, especially given his medical history. The bad news: In July he trailed the Republican incumbent by 23 points; in November he trailed by six. The good news: The incumbent is Gordon Smith, who’s been siding with the left against the war for months. Worst case scenario? The Democrats end up with 58 seats instead of 57, Oregon’s seat keeps voting the same way on Iraq, and we get a senator with a wicked awesome hook for a hand. Who needs filibusters anyway, right?
