And the man who ran, and then didn’t run, the first Net-based presidential campaign finishes a dismal fifth. Follow the link and eyeball those numbers; the Democratic traffic rankings almost perfectly mirror the national polls while the Republican traffic rankings are almost a perfect inversion of the national polls. (Mitt is the outlier.) Why is that? And how is it that the Republican frontrunner does less than half the monthly traffic that Chris Dodd does? I know the left has a greater online presence than we do and I know Dodd is a nutroots heartthrob, but I’ll bet there are blogs that pull as many uniques as Rudy’s pulling. I’m tempted to chalk it up to the Democratic base trending younger and Net savvier than the GOP’s (which would also explain Paul’s showing, given his support among kids), but Mitt and Huck do respectably and they’re firmly mainstream. What gives?
