I’m not a zombie purist. You like your zombies sprinting at top speed instead of doin’ the Romero lurch, I’ll still call you brother. But can we all agree, please, that this “zombies eat brains” meme must be laid to rest? No serious zombie movie restricts the zombie diet to brains; Romero’s movies always show them dining on flesh (usually limbs) and no one who’s seen Dawn of the Dead will forget the evisceration of the biker at the end. The only zombie movie I know of where they’ve got a special craving for the noggin is Return of the Living Dead, which was cute but certainly isn’t enshrined in the zombie pantheon.

They’re meat-eaters, people. Let’s afford them the dignity of recognizing that.
