This is apparently one of those weeks when the actual news begins to look like the plot of a rejected B movie. The New York Post is reporting on the arrest in Cyprus of Dr. Gal Luft, a former Israeli Defense Forces officer. He is accused of gunrunning but claims that he was being set up by the White House to keep him from spilling the beans on the Biden family. Luft reportedly has extensive ties in the intelligence community and in Asia and he has quite the story to tell. He claims that Hunter Biden’s “business associates” in China were tipped off about investigations into their activities by an FBI mole going by the name of “One-Eye.” The House Oversight Committee is now looking into Luft’s claims. Even if this doesn’t turn out to be true it will make for one heck of a standup routine.

Hunter Biden had an FBI mole named “One-Eye” who tipped off his Chinese business partners that they were under investigation, according to an Israeli energy expert arrested in Cyprus last month on gunrunning charges.

The House Oversight Committee is investigating the explosive claims by Dr. Gal Luft, a former Israel Defense Forces lieutenant colonel with deep intelligence ties in Washington and Beijing, who says he was arrested to stop him from revealing what he knows about the Biden family and FBI corruption — details he told the Department of Justice in 2019, and says they ignored.

Luft, 56, first made the claims on Feb. 18 on Twitter, after being detained at a Cyprus airport as he prepared to board a plane to Israel.

This may sound crazy, but the more we learn about Luft’s history, the more plausible the story becomes. He was verifiably tied to Chinese energy company CEFC and that’s a name that has shown up repeatedly in the Laptop From Hell. He cited specific amounts of money being paid to both Hunter and Jim Biden.

Luft is claiming that Hunter’s business partner, CEFC chairman Ye Jianming, told him that they learned of the ongoing investigations from “One-Eye” who was a well-connected FBI agent (or former agent). They had paid One-Eye handsomely to keep them in the loop. Luft provided details of millions of dollars in payments to Jim and Hunter Biden, along with the reasons for those payments.

There was a time when I would have immediately blown this story off as the desperate ramblings of someone who has been caught doing something wrong and is trying to talk their way out of a prison sentence. The idea that the FBI would be part of such shenanigans would have seemed incomprehensible. But these days? The more we learn about what has been going on inside the FBI, the more plausible the story sounds.

The simple fact that a story like this is being seriously investigated is yet another example of why we need a thorough housecleaning at the FBI. The Bureau seems to have been so politicized and weaponized against anyone who isn’t sufficiently loyal to the Democrats in general and the Bidens in particular that public confidence is tanking. FBI agents tipping off representatives of the Chinese Communist Party about American intelligence agency activities should be unthinkable. And yet I’m sitting here today thinking, ‘yeah. I could see that happening.’ It’s a very sad state of affairs.
