Noting that Specter had supported the stimulus to his own “peril,” Rendell joked: “You could make life a little easier for yourself by taking that registration card of yours and making that little change from ‘R’ to ‘D.’”
Biden, too, expressed gratitude by telling Specter that deep down inside, the veteran Republican – who’s vulnerable to a challenge from the right in 2010 – is really a Democrat.

God better love him, Republicans don’t.

Biden is not often right, but in this case…spot on.

More of that trademark folksy, homespun wisdom from The Man in the Yellow Hat.

Spector and Rendell will(have) ruin Pa. Im glad tho to see the Spector realizes that it was an eulogy.
Spector was at a city near me recently and he got hammered….by republicans. Everyone who was there complained about him backing the bs plan. The money in our state is only going to Pittsburgh, Philly, Erie ans St. College while central Pa is struggling and looking for jobs.
He will have a hard time in his re-election bid.

That’s what happens to “moderates”: they don’t get respect from any side.

Indeed. They may be useful, but they are not respected.

Biden “jokes” with Specter: Why don’t you just admit you’re a Democrat?
……
What’s the joke?
artist on February 28, 2009 at 9:57 AM
I never thought I’d say this: Biden is correct.
Richard Romano on February 28, 2009 at 9:59 AM
I have a bit of a different take on this.
It must suck to be Joe Biden and know that your Administration’s signature initiative needed the support of a Republican to get done. Belittling him after the fact is not very becoming.
rockmom on February 28, 2009 at 9:59 AM
What a degrading moment for Spectre. Not that he didn’t deserve it. I guess he belongs nowhere now no matter what letter he has after his name. No one likes or trust the two faced.
jeanie on February 28, 2009 at 10:01 AM
Hated by his own party and mocked by the other. That’s your legacy, Arlen.

He was like this publicly — proudly — as far back as twenty years ago. Far too late for him to learn any difficult new tricks now.

Wonder if this same kind of innuendo will be directed at the two ladies? Probably not, since they are women. Don’t know if I’m sorry or glad about this! However, they may not be insulated from nuance by women.

I love America.
This is a place where anyone can get ahead.
We have an African-American President.
We have a mentally retarded Vice President.
I love America.

Kent18 on February 28, 2009 at 10:23 AM
Sometimes a Dem can be correct…and in this case Biden nailed it. Now all the GOP has to do is recognize it themselves and throw the bum out of the party! Same can be said for Collins & Snow! It would be no loss at all.
journeyman on February 28, 2009 at 10:23 AM
Now that Plugs is fully involved in parroting The Messiah’s party line, why doesn’t he change his party registration to “C”?
MrScribbler on February 28, 2009 at 10:25 AM
Prediction? MSM will announce self-righteously that the GOP is punishing Spectre for voting his conscience IF they are allowed to cover this incident. MSM now limited in what they can cover and how they must cover it. Always have to await their marching orders. As I type this, I suddenly realize that the main stream outlets have collectively sold their journalistic birth right so to speak.(I know,I’m slow–y’all knew this already!!) Do you suppose they don’t realize this yet or do they know and don’t care?
jeanie on February 28, 2009 at 10:28 AM
Didn’t 91 House Republicans vote for Bush Tarp 1?
Let’s not rewrite history and the scare tactics of Bush/Republicans just a few months ago. Republicans are hypocritical to not support Obama’s TARP or big spending in general. Republicans are only pandering to the latest outcry from their base. Just like Shamnesty, most all of them would have been fine with Obama’s TARP. That’s why you don’t see truly passionate opposition from most of them.
Don’t get played by the ‘09 RINO’s.

And a corrupt Senator who flagrantly abused his office in order to pay back nearly $1M in campaign contributions from Comcast and their attorneys/lobbyists firm.

Good question.

No. The GOP was scared to death when the market tanked, tanked, tanked when they voted against it. They sensibly backed off. Would that the ideologue in the WH had as much good sense when faced with the OPPOSITE side of that same dilemma.
jeanie on February 28, 2009 at 10:36 AM
I asked my girlfriend’s cousin from western PA what she thought of Specter. She said she didn’t have a problem with him because he brought home a lot of money and projects for the state. She is a democrat.

jeanie on February 28, 2009 at 10:50 AM
We should encourage Specter to change the R to a D. He’d then be reelected as a worst case scenario instead of a best case scenario. I’m surprised that the Democrats seem willing to take him.
Buddahpundit on February 28, 2009 at 10:57 AM
To the Dems, Specter is a right winger.
They won’t take him. They want more Dick Turbans and Chuckyou Schumers.

TheSitRep on February 28, 2009 at 11:07 AM
Get it now, Allah? Do you still think it would be a bad idea for the GOP to kick Specters arse out before he does it on his own?
I find it shocking that common sense has become politically incorrect.
DannoJyd on February 28, 2009 at 11:07 AM
Since Specter is mining for dems to switch parties to save his sorry butt in the primary, I don’t think we should give him any benefit of the doubt. He is betraying us Republicans; don’t be stupid like Rhianna taking back her abuser Chris Brown. We have got to fight for our lives; for our family’s lives; for our country. We have got to smarten up and be lethal to those who would sell us out.

Benedict Arlen to Biden: “thank you Joe, may I have another?”

He must be sending all those projects and money to the big cities then. He has done nothing for central Pa and other areas that really need help. We need jobs.

Biden doing something not very “becoming”? Stop the presses – what an achievement! Biden has already “become” a plagarist, long since become a clown, and now has become our first “Special Vice President”! I advise the Special Olympics to change their name to “Exceptional Olympics” or something like that to avoid being accidently associated with him.
