Texas Over California: It's the Freedom -- And a Lot More

Texas is a place where freedom reigns.

Residents are free to live, work, defend themselves, ride horses or raise their families pretty much any way they see fit. The things they can’t do aren’t tyrannical; they’re helpful boundaries.

If anything, Texas opposes tyranny like Democrats oppose lowering taxes. It’s not in any one law or person, but it is an idea that permeates our culture, and Texas embraces it well.

Turns out, a lot of other Americans do, too.

Russell has been here six years; I've been in Texas just shy of three years now. She came from California directly, while we had a 23-year interlude in Minnesota. We come to the same conclusion, though. 

I absolutely love it here, especially outside of the core urban areas. Russell captures all of the economic reasons and in this conclusion the decisive freedom issue, but as she also notes, it's the people who make Texas unique.
