Denver to Texas: Hey, can you divert illegal aliens away from our city?

City and county officials in Denver would like Texas border towns to distribute flyers to dissuade illegal aliens from traveling to Denver after they cross the U.S.-Mexico border. Denver officials request that the flyers (published in both English and Spanish) explain that the city is out of resources to provide services for them. Low-cost housing is unavailable.

Matthew Mueller, the executive director for the Office of Emergency Management for the City and County of Denver, sent an email to officials in Texas communities of Brownsville, El Paso, Houston, and Dallas advising that they “can no longer provide the same level of sheltering resources to newly arriving persons in Denver.” Mueller said his office is reducing the maximum length of stay for migrants arriving as of October 4, according to documents provided to Breitbart Texas by Texas officials.

Mueller went on to ask the officials to distribute flyers, printed in English and Spanish, to the migrants or to post them in shelters, NGOs, or any other areas where migrants wishing to travel to Denver could be staying.

The flyer advises “asylum seekers traveling to Denver” that “Denver’s resources have been exhausted. The flyer stated that single adult migrants arriving in Denver will have a 14-day stay limit in shelters.

Like the Mayor of New York, Eric Adams, Denver officials are warning illegal aliens that housing in Denver is scarce. The sanctuary city officials also warn the migrants that housing in Denver is “very expensive and there aren’t many affordable housing options available.” Don’t come here, it’s too expensive.

Do the mayors of these sanctuary cities think that telling illegal aliens that living in their sanctuary cities is expensive will deter them from coming? They’ve been told by sanctuary city officials around the country that they are welcome and legal status will not be a factor in providing services to them. They probably assume that resources are unlimited because sanctuary city officials always say that they are prepared to handle them.

Texas began bussing illegal aliens to sanctuary cities months ago in order to ease the crowding in Texas border communities. It is out of desperation that Governor Abbott had to make that decision. The Biden administration ignores pleas for federal assistance. Biden, his ditzy press secretary, and his loyal DHS secretary all gaslight American citizens that the border is closed and secured. All anyone has to do is turn on Fox News on any day and see for themselves that this is a lie. Illegal immigrants are filmed every single day crossing the Rio Grande River and attempting to walk into Texas. They are also shown walking into Arizona. The video doesn’t lie.

Governor Abbott began sending migrant buses to Denver on May 18. The state has sent about 2,400 illegal aliens to Denver so far. This crisis in Denver can’t be blamed solely on Abbott, though, as former Mayor Michael Hancock told CNN that the city declared an emergency caused by the number of illegal aliens coming to the city before the buses from Texas began to arrive.

Current Denver Mayor Mike Johnston has declared a state of disaster for the city. He blames Governor Abbott, because, of course he does. When Johnston took office earlier this year, he falsely accused the illegal aliens of being “involuntary arrivals.” Apparently he wants people to think that illegal aliens are being forced on to migrant buses and taken to cities against their will. Nothing could be further from the truth. They ask to go to other cities and are eager to accept free transportation to the city of their choice. They are provided food and water on air-conditioned buses for their journey.

Not all illegal immigrants want to remain in Texas or Arizona when they illegally cross into those states. Sanctuary city officials across the country are happy for them all to remain in Texas but that isn’t sustainable and it isn’t fair to the residents of Texas. Why should Texas shoulder the Biden border crisis? Texas taxpayers have spent billions of dollars allocated by the Texas Legislature to deal with the Biden border crisis.

Immigration is a federal issue and the responsibility of the president. The Biden administration doesn’t want to secure the southern border, yet it tries to stop border states from securing their borders with Mexico. Biden and his DOJ regularly take the State of Texas to court to stop various measures taken by Abbott. Joe Biden can’t have it both ways. Either he secures the border or he lets governors like Abbott do it and provide the resources needed to do so. This isn’t rocket science.

Now that sanctuary cities are receiving illegal aliens from Texas, suddenly we have a crisis on the southern border. Welcome to the party, pals. Rest assured that Americans are fed up with their communities being forced to support illegal aliens. This issue will be a top issue for voters in 2024. Joe Biden has a lot to answer for and he will be held accountable. Do Denver officials truly think a flyer will deter illegal aliens from going to their city? They are unserious about this issue and the suggestion that Texas cities distribute flyers is an example of that. Do better, Denver.
