Governor Abbott sends another migrant bus to L.A. after mayor complains about the last one

You’ll take it and you’ll like it, Mayor Bass. Governor Abbott thinks that if he sends enough buses filled with illegal aliens to sanctuary cities, sooner or later the Democrat mayors of those cities will demand that the Democrat president will do his job and secure the southern border.

Abbott has said in the past that he’ll be willing to stop bussing illegal aliens to sanctuary cities when the president steps up and rights the wrongs he has created with his open borders policies. Until then, why should Texas and Arizona continue to shoulder the burdens of providing services for the millions of illegal immigrants who have crossed the border? They continue to stream across and Biden continues to ignore it. DHS Secretary Mayorkas continues to insist that the border is closed and secure. He lies with a straight face.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass complained about the last bus Abbott sent to her city so, five days later, another bus arrived from Texas. On Saturday, bus number 10 arrived in Los Angeles. A total of 39 illegal aliens were on the bus – 12 families, including 21 children.

Los Angeles Governor Karen Bass criticized Texas Governor Greg Abbott when the ninth bus was sent when Tropical Storm Hillary was impacting the city, saying “LA has not extended an invitation asking for people to come. This is a political act.”

On Tuesday, Bass again condemned Abbott for sending the buses.

“This evening, Los Angeles received another bus from Texas. That means that while we were urging Angelenos to stay safe, the Governor of Texas was sending a bus with families and toddlers straight towards us KNOWING they’d have to drive right into an unprecedented storm,” Bass tweeted on X. “Evil.”

Buck up, buttercup. She may think she hasn’t issued any invitations for people to come but in June, the Los Angeles City Council voted to make the city a sanctuary city. Hence, the open invitation. To anyone. Any time. Them’s the breaks, Madame Mayor.

As far as Abbott being evil because he sent a migrant bus to L.A. as it was under storm warnings, well, Abbott’s press secretary, Andrew Mahaleris, said they all signed a voluntary consent waiver before getting on the bus. That is standard procedure with every busload of illegal aliens.

“Bus drivers receive updated weather conditions along their routes and for their destination ahead of and while en route to the sanctuary cities,” Mahaleris said. “Yesterday’s bus rerouted out of an abundance of caution and took a cautious path to Los Angeles to keep all on board safe. Migrants willingly chose to go to Los Angeles, having signed a voluntary consent waiver available in multiple languages upon boarding that they agreed on the destination. And they were processed and released by the federal government, who are dumping them at historic levels in Texas border towns because of the Biden-made crisis.”

“Each bus is stocked with food and water and makes stops along the trip to refuel and switch drivers,” Mahaleris continued. “Migrants are allowed to purchase any needed provisions or disembark at any of these stops. Instead of complaining about Texas providing much-needed relief to our overrun and overwhelmed border communities, Mayor Bass needs to call on President Biden to step up and do his job to secure the border—something he continues failing to do.”

To think that the mayor of a sanctuary city would have a hissy fit over a busload of 39 people, 21 of them children, arriving in her city is ridiculous. What did she think would happen when L.A. was declared a sanctuary city? Did she think it was just an exercise in virtue signaling and the city wouldn’t have to provide for those who came? 39 people are less than a drop in the bucket compared to what the border communities along the Texas-Mexico border have to deal with. What would she do if a couple of thousand arrived all at once one day? And then the next day? And the next? That is what mayors of border towns face regularly.

She better get used to it. Abbott isn’t backing down. Why should he? He’s been left on his own. So, he’s taking matters into his own hands with Operation Lone Star. The Texas Legislature set aside money for the buses. This isn’t stopping any time soon.
