Herschel Walker is "mad" at Trump taking credit for his Senate run

I thought Herschel Walker had such a great relationship with Donald Trump. Why is Walker now upset that Trump is taking credit for his Senate run? Doesn’t he know that it’s just Trump being Trump?

Walker should know what most everyone else, supporters and non-supporters, know. Trump takes credit for everything. It’s a no-brainer that he will take credit for Walker challenging the incumbent, Democrat Senator Warnock. Walker, though, isn’t playing along. He wants everyone to know that Trump never really asked him to run.

“One thing that people don’t know is President Trump never asked me,” Walker said in an interview with the rapper Killer Mike on Revolt TV. “I need to tell him that he never asked. I heard it all on television that ‘he’s going to ask Herschel,’ saying Hershel is going to run. President Trump never came out and said ‘Herschel, will you run for that Senate seat?’”

“So, I’m mad at him, because he never asked, but he’s taking credit that he asked,” Walker said.

But Walker said that Trump did not play a role in his decision to run for Warnock’s Senate seat, pointing instead to his religious beliefs.

“I prayed about it,” he said. “And to be honest with you, I was praying that God would bring somebody else because I’m happy. My life is doing well.”

Walker is much loved in Georgia from his days playing football at the University of Georgia. He had to move back to Georgia to run, though, because he lived in Texas for decades. Trump regularly teased that Walker would run before he declared himself a candidate. Trump endorsed Walker early on and campaigned for him earlier this year. Walker’s victory was one of the few bright spots in Georgia’s primary elections for Trump. The primary elections were held only a week earlier before Walker came out with his declaration of anger towards Trump now.

A Walker-Warnock match-up will be interesting. Real Clear Politics has Walker up by only 0.5% but the latest polling ended on April 27. The left must be concerned, though, because CNN’s ‘fact-checkers’ are all about dinging Walker about his college education. They say Walker is “piling dishonesty upon dishonesty.” Walker didn’t graduate from the University of Georgia. He left after his junior year to play professional football.

In December, Walker’s campaign website falsely claimed that he had graduated from the University of Georgia, the school he left after his junior season to play professionally. (Walker’s campaign deleted the claim after the Atlanta Journal-Constitution inquired about it.) In April, CNN’s KFile team revealed that Walker himself had made the false graduation claim for years — and that Walker had even asserted that he graduated in the top 1% of his University of Georgia class.

But when Walker was challenged about his graduation deception in an interview last week with FOX 5 Atlanta anchor Russ Spencer, Walker declared he had never once said he graduated from the University of Georgia.

Spencer told Walker that he has a “phenomenal life story,” but that “in some instances you’ve exaggerated that story. You said that you graduated from UGA…”

Walker interjected: “I never said that. They say that. And I said — that’s what you gotta remember. I never, I never have said that statement. Not one time. I’ve said that I studied criminal justice at UGA.”

CNN fact-checkers call Walker’s claims about graduating from UGA as “flat out false” and cite several instances where he said he graduated from the university. And, to pile on, they say, “There is no evidence that Walker was high school valedictorian, either.” The long knives are out for Herschel Walker and the lefty press is happy to play along. These are the same fact-checkers who mysteriously went silent as soon as Trump left office. Biden is a career fibber and yet they don’t seem too curious about that. Funny how that happens.

Good luck, Herschel Walker. It would be nice for Republicans to take back the Senate. We’ll see how his relationship with Trump plays out.
