Good news! George H.W. Bush released from hospital

Here’s some good news to start off the weekend. Former President George H.W. Bush was released from Houston Methodist Hospital Friday evening. Signs of his restlessness to leave the hospital appeared in a tweet Thursday after the hospital held a ceremony naming its atrium in honor of him and his recently deceased wife, Barbara. The man was ready to go home.

Nice.  You may remember that Bush was admitted into the hospital on April 22, the day after his beloved wife of 73 years, Barbara was buried. I know I’m not the only one to have held my breath and worry that he is too weak to continue on very long without her.

His spokesman, Jim McGrath, tweeted out the good news Friday evening.

Now Bush is looking forward to returning to his family home in Kennebunkport, Maine. A yearly tradition, this will be his first without the former first lady at his side. Last year, about this time, they arrived in Kennebunkport after the former president was released from the hospital after a battle with pneumonia.  From an article on May 15, 2017, in the local newspaper.

Bush’s spokesman Jim McGrath said that the couple arrived at Walker’s Point on Monday. The Bushes spend their summers in Maine, typically heading back to Houston in October.

Bush’s son, Jeb piggybacked off of McGrath’s tweet Friday night.  The former presidential candidate and Florida governor must be pleased with his 93-year-old father’s recovery.

Let’s hope the universally loved former president is able to return to his summer home and find peace and comfort as he regains his strength.
