Gal Gadot to Screen Hamas Videos of 10/7 Attack for Hollywood (Update)

When Hamas fighters entered Israel on 10/7 some of them were wearing cameras to document what they did. After many of them were killed by the IDF, those cameras were collected and reviewed. The IDF put together a 47-minute compilation film made up of those videos plus some video taken by Israeli civilians. About three weeks ago they screened it for the foreign press. Here’s how the Associated Press described it at the time.

A grisly montage of video and photographs of Hamas’s massacre of hundreds of civilians across southern Israel last week highlights the savagery of the attack and the ease with which the militant group appeared to operate inside Israel.

The footage that the Israeli military showed foreign correspondents Monday included a photo of a burnt baby. It showed gunmen shooting the dead bodies of civilians in cars, militants in the process of beheading a body with a hoe, burnt corpses thrown in a dumpster…

The latest footage was an unceasing display of horrors. Some of it came from Hamas body cameras and videos posted by Hamas militants to social media and later verified by Israel. Some was taken by civilians as they tried to escape, some by first responders.

It showed bodies of people who had been bound. A room with at least seven bodies reduced to ash. Civilians shot in bedrooms, bathrooms, front yards. Blood so thick it nearly obscured hallway floors.

Now Israeli director Guy Nattiv and actress Gal Gadot have arranged to screen that same compilation film for some of Hollywood’s elite.

Israeli actor and Gal Gadot has organised a screening of the graphic footage collected from the October 7 Hamas attacks for an audience of prominent Hollywood figures in Los Angeles and New York.

The event will show the full 47 minutes of uncensored footage under the title Bearing Witness to the October 7th Massacre…

Around 120 prominent figures in Hollywood been invited to attend the initial screening organised by Gadot though more screenings may be scheduled, according to YNet.

An image of the actual invitation can be seen here. Are there really people who still doubt that there was a horrible massacre of Israeli civilians on 10/7? In a word, yes. Here’s Roger Waters of Pink Floyd being interviewed by Glenn Greenwald. Waters first claims it’s not clear what happened on 10/7 and then claims the Israelis blew it out of proportion. Greenwald keeps pressing him to say that the targeting of civilians was a war crime and finally Waters admits he doesn’t defend that, but only with a lot of prompting. Roger Waters won’t be invited to this screening but he really should watch the video.

Meanwhile, Gal Gadot’s name is trending on X today because of her involvement in the screening. Naturally, there are lots of “anti-Zionist” voices who are not happy about this. Many are calling it a propaganda film even though most of it is made up of video shot by Hamas fighters themselves.

It really was intended as a pro-Hamas propaganda film. As many have pointed out, they recorded this because they were proud of it. It’s just that many of the Hamas fighters died and Israel got the video. Some are already planning to protest at the screening.

The screening appears to be set for tomorrow night in LA. I don’t have a lot of faith in Hollywood but hopefully some realization of what Israel is up against will sink in with a few people.

Update: You can add this UCLA professor to the list of people calling Hamas-shot video of their own massacre “propaganda.”
