Missing in action at the Superbowl? Mandatory face masks for celebrities

(via YouTube)

The Super Bowl has long been an occasion for celebrations in the United States and many traditions have grown from it. These include parties where families and friends gather to watch the big game and consume literally 1.4 billion chicken wings. But in 2020 it’s becoming obvious that a new sort of tradition is emerging for big football games, at least in California. It’s a time when Hollywood celebrities and Democratic politicians parade before cameras without bothering to wear the face masks that are still mandated until at least tomorrow. Many of the same bigwigs who put on these types of demonstrations during the playoffs gave repeat performances yesterday, including the Governor of California and, if anything, an even larger number of the rich and famous from movies, television, and the music industry. And they did it right in front of huge groups of children who were still forced to wear their masks. (Fox News)

Several high-profile celebrities were shown on NBC’s telecast of the Super Bowl flouting California’s indoor mask mandate.

Social media erupted after seeing Jay-Z, Charlize Theron, LeBron James, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck enjoying themselves at the game without a mask while they were not eating or drinking, a violation of California’s indoor mask mandate that is in place until Feb. 15.

Twitter users were quick to point out that children in California are forced to wear masks at schools where strict coronavirus restrictions include being forced to eat outside in the rain in some cases.

Clay Travis tweeted a roundup of the glitterati enjoying the big game without bothering to wear a mask even though they weren’t eating or drinking. And he reminds us that all of the children in California would still be forced to wear masks when they show up for school today.

And here’s the Mayor of Los Angeles once again chatting with some pals indoors in the middle of a large crowd without a mask. This time he’s at least holding one in his hand, so I’m sure that was keeping the virus at bay. Man… this guy must really be able to hold his breath like a professional pearl diver.

There were too many big names present and maskless to list here. The notables included Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lopez, LeBron James, and Ben Affleck, just to name a few. Ellen DeGeneres also made the list. She was partying the night away maskless, despite hosting a show where the studio audience is required to both wear masks and provide proof of vaccination to be allowed in the building.

Speaking of children and celebrities, check out this performance that was backed up by the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra. Notice anything out of place here?

This is precisely what so many of us have been warning you about from the beginning. These people do not take their own rules seriously unless there is a camera pointed at them. And as we saw once again last night, sometimes the cameras don’t even stop them. They know that these policies don’t do much of anything in terms of mitigating the spread of the novel coronavirus. But they impose all of these mandates on the public – and particularly on children – while they ignore their own rules and make up stupid excuses when they are caught violating them.

They’re laughing at you. They’re so busy enjoying the ability to exert authoritarian control over the masses while breaking the rules themselves that they can’t see that they have a quickly growing revolution on their hands. But they may not be laughing anymore after the elections in November.
