Presidents get elected to run the nation. Some days that means knowing how to heal it.
For the first time since winning the White House, President Barack Obama faces such a moment Tuesday at Fort Hood. After a shooting that left 13 people dead and 29 wounded on the bustling Texas Army post, it is Obama’s job to offer some comfort, if not answers…
It is his time to take on the healer-in-chief role that can help shape a presidency at a time of national tragedy.

Too late, George Bush already did it.

“I’d like to have a moment of silence for all the victims if I could, the muslims living in America who will have to face the backlash of hysterical, angry white people.”
Bishop on November 10, 2009 at 8:40 AM
Ten bucks says:
a) He blames American culture / the American way of life.
b) Blames Bush or ‘Bush’s war,’ either overtly or by subtext.
c) Calls for “tolerance” from the rest of us for Islam.
d) Doesn’t mention any other cases of sudden jihad syndrome and suggests Americans are misguided and “acting stupidly.” for seeing a pattern here.
e) Talks about himself.
f) Talks about health care legislation.
Any takers?

All of the above.

Did AP actually say Healer-in-Chief ? Seriously?
What has happened to our media?
nyx on November 10, 2009 at 8:44 AM
He’ll start off with E, subtly slide into B and the big finish will be A.
sherry on November 10, 2009 at 8:45 AM
I’d bet on the word “diversity” more than once.
Wethal on November 10, 2009 at 8:46 AM
I’m guessing he’s going to get a polite, but lukewarm, reception from the troops. I wouldn’t go unless ordered to by my superiors.
pistolero on November 10, 2009 at 8:46 AM
If B and C aren’t mentioned in some way, I’ll force crr6 to eat my hat.

Is this to actually visit the wounded or is it a Photo-op of him visiting the wounded?
That question will borne out in how the WH lets the SCM cover this.
Fake8 on November 10, 2009 at 8:48 AM
So is it an “incident” or a “tragedy”?
LibTired on November 10, 2009 at 8:48 AM
yep, they actually said healer-in-chief. As for the second question, they all bought magical beans from Jack and S**t and we’re stuck with the bill

it’s always time for a photo-op
Doctor Zhivago on November 10, 2009 at 8:50 AM
Yup.
gwelf on November 10, 2009 at 8:51 AM
Umm is that ten bucks for Each one of those? Cause if you could get one of the Brain-dead Leftists to take you up on that it would turn out to be a hefty chunk of change.
Fake8 on November 10, 2009 at 8:53 AM
Another ten bucks says you’re right.
The prospect of this little totalitarian socialist community organizer trying to heal anything is about as likely as hell freezing over.

Obama: “The sadness I feel for your families is the same sadness I feel for the families of the victims of American imperialistic oppression around the world.”
Caper29 on November 10, 2009 at 8:55 AM
My guess this wasn’t a Photo-op.
Hey! Here the angle for you Leftards – Bush set the bar TOO HIGH for Presidential behavior, how about that – Booshes Fault – AGAIN!
Fake8 on November 10, 2009 at 8:59 AM
Obama: “However much grief we may feel today, things will get better if Congress passes the House health care reform and the Israelis make concessions for peace with the Palestinians.”

I don’t think Jones was suppose to let slip that the troop decision hadn’t been made yet til after Obama was back from Ft Hood. Wouldn’t want to be him.
journeyintothewhirlwind on November 10, 2009 at 9:05 AM
Ahh..that explains it all. Some one needs to get a memo to Barry.
Run not Ruin.
BigWyo on November 10, 2009 at 9:05 AM
Bishop if you are serious you suck. If this is an attempt at sarcasm it sucks.
Either way suck it is and does. Back lash my a$$. There has never been an example of a so called back lash. Perhaps that’s the problem. There should be a back lash, towards the feminine, metro-sexual sissy left wing that only sees victims in the perpetrators and criminals in victims.
david kumbera on November 10, 2009 at 9:07 AM
NO IT DOESN’T. He’s supposed to be the leader, not Oprah f*cking Winfrey. I don’t care if he pats the victims of this mass murderer on the leg and says “there, there.” I want to hear his answer to what are you going to do about these people. GRRRRRRR.
If you need me, I’ll be in the Angry Dome.
mjk on November 10, 2009 at 9:10 AM
President Bush and Laura have too much class for this but I would love them to show up at the memorial and upstage the idiot in chief.
Like I said last night – the fact that our bravest men and women have to salute Barry makes my stomach turn.
gophergirl on November 10, 2009 at 9:10 AM
I wonder if he’ll bring TOTUS with him. Would look kind of silly if the service was in a chapel, and they tried to fit TOTUS in around the lecturn.
Wethal on November 10, 2009 at 9:10 AM
So, the Sociopath-in-Chief gets another shot to get it right. He can’t because he’s not capable.
BottomLine5 on November 10, 2009 at 9:11 AM
And without the fanfare.
The heck with the dead and wounded. It’s all about the O.
BuckeyeSam on November 10, 2009 at 9:14 AM
I hope someone keeps count of the number of times he uses the first person singular.
Wethal on November 10, 2009 at 9:14 AM
Nice of him to stop by. What took so long, camera in the shop?
29Victor on November 10, 2009 at 9:17 AM
I’m not sure why my Chapelle Show reference got deleted, but oh well.
The President needs act like his title and stop playing games.
darclon on November 10, 2009 at 9:17 AM
Yeah. How much you wanna bet this somehow becomes about him. “I….uh…I was shot dead once..umm….no…uh…I understand ..um…Stop hating Muslims!”
29Victor on November 10, 2009 at 9:19 AM
“However tragic this is, good things can still happen in this country, like when I was elected.”
If you saw the posts on his video on the Berlin Wall, he never mentioned Reagan, Thatcher, Gorbachov, Bush41, but he does compare the wonderfulness of the Wall falling to the wonderfulness of some wall falling when he was elected.
It’s always all about him.
Wethal on November 10, 2009 at 9:22 AM
This sums up what is the very worst about Obama. I hate this man. I really hate him now.

Leaped high out the water to grab the bait. Bishop is very creative.
Popcorn time.

Why is going. Then the memorial becomes all about him! Ohhhhhh…
SouthernGent on November 10, 2009 at 9:29 AM
The reception he gets is going to be so chilly he may catch a cold. I wonder what it would be like to hear a 1000-voice shout-out of “You, Sir, lie, Sir!!”
drunyan8315 on November 10, 2009 at 9:30 AM
Does anyone know as to what time Der Fuhrer is showing up at Ft. Hood?

Can’t shake the feeling that watching him give his speech would be like picking a scab. You know you shouldn’t…
txmomof6 on November 10, 2009 at 10:07 AM
how much you want to bet that he screws something up? insults the families, makes excuses for the killer. Something only the Zero can do.
poppieseeds on November 10, 2009 at 10:34 AM
I’m sure he will insult them! The left does not understand and actually despises anyone who loves their country.
I hope they boo him!!
PattyJ on November 10, 2009 at 10:40 AM
Bingo.
beachgirlusa on November 10, 2009 at 11:06 AM
Can factional hatred be laid aside here for the few moments appointed to remember the dead and wounded I wonder? Yes, Obama will probably fail to say the proper things and the rational of the whole incident coming from everything official will be a marvel of turning brown sh1t into white wash. This is a serious and sad day for America. This whole event has been a critical test of the nations integrity and grip on reality and I have no optimism while waiting for the marks to come back. I know everyone is fu*king god damned angry at the black comedy of errors that have unfolded on this. It isn’t just heads that should roll, mindsets and ignorance of the enemy has to roll too.
BL@KBIRD on November 10, 2009 at 11:13 AM
I can’t wait to see how he makes THIS occasion about Himself. I keep praying that he’ll give it up, but I know he won’t.
rockmom on November 10, 2009 at 11:22 AM
Here’s the speech:
Who would’ve thought such a tragedy would happen with the first African American as President. When I first heard of the news, I thought about my hero – Martin Luther King – and thought about what his words meant to me. These issues make me think of how important it is for me to pass health care. When people look back on this, I hope they remember that I was here supporting you in an hour of grief. I know that my hero would’ve been proud of me. And I’m proud of myself. Thank you. God bless me, er America.
