When someone stands up and says something you believe in, he’s brave. If he stands up and says something you don’t believe in, he’s arrogant. If a person who has the same beliefs as you defends himself against criticism, he’s a warrior. If a person who has different beliefs than you defends himself against criticism, he’s a whiner.
“We’re not going to be bullied, we’re not going to be smeared, we’re not going to be lied about,” Obama said. “I don’t believe in coming in second.”
These are the words of a warrior, not a whiner. The whining has only come from the other side of the political spectrum.

Jul 25, 2008 … “I don’t even notice the color of his skin, I do note the thinness of it though.” — Dennis Miller
Half the time I tune into Obama he’s talking about how others perceive him or supposed personal affronts or misstatements of who he is or what he’s said. I don’t understand how the typical person can tolerate listening to that. Then he drones on about how others are smearing him. It’s truly all about him.

These are the words of a warrior, not a whiner.
No, the words of a warrior would be hitting right back, explaining why she’s wrong, and attacking her positions and public statements the way she attacked his. Just saying she’s a bully and a smear artist without giving specifics, that’s whining.
By the way, you know who hasn’t whined about getting picked on? The woman who’s been picked on this week to an extent that would make your hero curl up into a ball and weep. She had to put up with stories about faking her pregnancy, and he’s mewling about a convention speech?
By the way, poor little picked-on Osama Obama, when you get through telling us the truth about Rezko, Ayers, Dohrn, Wright, Kilpatrick and the rest of your traitorous/felonious cronies (as if that will happen!), why don’t you explain why it’s okay for your to lie about McCain and Palin on a daily basis, but it’s wrong for them to portray you as you really are?
What totally amazes me is that when Barry gets done taking the excessive profits from big oil and all business, what makes Bon Jovi think he will just stop there?
Obama will make Napster and p2p look like nothing in contrast to what he will do to their profits.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but being “bullied” only applies if one is overmatched in strength, but is in a situation where this strength shouldn’t be applied.
If two members of a high-school wrestling team meat on the mat and one defeats the other, it’s not being “bullied” because they’re in the realm of sport. But if they later meet on a streetcorner and the victor pushes the loser, that would be bullying because physical strength is not to be used in a social context.
By using this word, then, Barack paints himself as weaker but in a context where such weakness shouldn’t be used against him. This might work well in a variety of positions — e.g. community organizer or junior senator — but is a tremendously damaging position for someone running for POTUS. Last I heard, there are no refs to call foul in that league.
Blowback

When someone stands up and says something you believe in, he’s brave. If he stands up and says something you don’t believe in, he’s arrogant. If a person who has the same beliefs as you defends himself against criticism, he’s a warrior. If a person who has different beliefs than you defends himself against criticism, he’s a whiner.

Paul-Cincy on September 6, 2008 at 1:52 AM
I thought he said he’d heard worse on the basketball court. Now it’s bullying. Damn, can the guy make up his mind on anything? It’s “no big deal,” but it’s the same thing that cost John Kerry the election. Uh, OK Barry. Enjoy the concert.
Ronnie on September 6, 2008 at 1:52 AM
Actually if a person who begs the approval of known terrorists for political points defends himself against criticism, he’s just a douchebag.

I can just see Obama doing his affirmations in the morning. “I’m the one we been waiting for. A light will shine down and a voice will tell you to vote for me. And gosh darn it, I’m worth it!”
pedestrian on September 6, 2008 at 2:16 AM
No, the words of a warrior would be hitting right back, explaining why she’s wrong, and attacking her positions and public statements the way she attacked his. Just saying she’s a bully and a smear artist without giving specifics, that’s whining.
Jim Treacher on September 6, 2008 at 2:53 AM
By the way, you know who hasn’t whined about getting picked on? The woman who’s been picked on this week to an extent that would make your hero curl up into a ball and weep. She had to put up with stories about faking her pregnancy, and he’s mewling about a convention speech?
Jim Treacher on September 6, 2008 at 2:56 AM
As the Governator would say, he’s a “girly man!”
Who wants a whiny little wimp in the White House?

“John McCain doesn’t know what he’s up against”
what a difference a fortnight makes….’cause what I see is a whiny lackluster tool is what McCain is up against.

What totally amazes me is that when Barry gets done taking the excessive profits from big oil and all business, what makes Bon Jovi think he will just stop there?
Obama will make Napster and p2p look like nothing in contrast to what he will do to their profits.

Team Obama keeps saying they’ve been “lied about”, but what are the lies?
Are they lying about lies?
ballz2wallz on September 6, 2008 at 8:51 AM
They forgot to say he originally lied that he would accept public funding.
Darth Executor on September 6, 2008 at 8:58 AM
a healthy press would ask pointed probing questions such as:
Senator Lightworker, you say McCain is spreading lies and “speaking in code” can you highlight the lies and decode with precision what exact racially charged things the Senator from Arizona has said?
Bambi: um uh uh yeah they imply I have uh ties to Muslims, and hang with radicals, implying I am less than uh uh patriotic….
Newsie: Senator Lightworker, you had a Pakistani roomie and visited Pakistan I also cannot help but notice that when it is to your advantage on the trail you imply kinship with both Hawaiian sepratists and Muslims. Also is it not a fact you have close ties politically with William Ayers an unrepentant domestic terrorist?
Bambi: *boom*
unfortunately that press don’t live here anymore as long as Barry has the magic (d)

Ohh… Poor baby! Is the news media saying that he’s a bad dad because he isn’t in Chicago raising his daughters??? How about questioning whether Sasha is his daughter?? Oops.. That would be the candidate who is actually getting bullied by the press. I’m not sure what the Messiah is whining about! Perhaps getting roughed up a bit by a girl.

burnitup on September 6, 2008 at 10:04 AM
Not to nitpick but is that $30k split evenly between the campaign and the DNC in error? As far as I know even celebrities are limited to $2300 per candidate per year right?
burnitup on September 6, 2008 at 10:08 AM
Another great thing about Sarah, she is proving that it isn’t about money. In the end it seems to be about being genuine and trustworthy. The Dems are still engulfed in the “Let’s throw money at it, that’s sure to win” mind set. An extension of their tax policies no doubt.
