Open thread: The "Huckabee" Ohio presidential forum

8 p.m. ET on Fox News. Ron Paul’s out but Romney, Santorum, and Gingrich are in, in, in. If you’re jonesing for one last debate, this’ll have to do. I think Huck’s using the same format this time as he did last time, bringing the candidates out sequentially for Q&A rather than putting them onstage together and letting them spar. That’s a good technique for early in the season when people haven’t seen much of them yet and want to hear them expound at length on their plans, but on March 3 we’ve heard it all before. If you want to do something more substantive than the typical network 60-second “game show” format, put the three of them around a table together and let Huckabee lead a conversation. The “candidate being grilled by a panel” gimmick feels like half thesis defense, half firing squad, which is a game show in its own right. Besides, don’t you want to watch Santorum confront Romney on this?

Paul, incidentally, is campaigning in Washington today ahead of the caucuses this afternoon. Feel free to use this thread to follow that too; Google’s Elections page should have the results as they come in. While we wait, via BuzzFeed’s Andrew Kaczynski, here’s Romney in 2009 once again touting RomneyCare as a “model.” Exit question: If Huckabee had run, how many states would he have won by now? Iowa, South Carolina, Florida(?)…
