McCain did not mention the flooding during his brief remarks, which focused mainly on the country’s financial crisis. A steady stream of folks started leaving the rally when McCain started speaking, apparently they were there just to see Palin.

Speaking of which, any theories as to why she’s suddenly pulling out of sold-out fundraisers on the west coast? Washington’s not a lost cause but California is, so it can’t have to do with expectations of victory. Presumably they’re redeploying her to swing states? Colorado and New Mexico are suddenly looking dicey.
