May Day Field Reports

I thought it would be good to create a separate blog entry for blogger/viewer/reader field reports. We’ve got affiliates and stringers covering NYC, Washington DC, and Chicago who will report back later in the afternoon and evening. If you’ve got tips, photos, stories, send ’em our way. We’ll update this throughout the day.

Smash sends his account from San Diego and Tijuana.

Reader Seth reports a small turnout in Atlanta.

Reader Doug e-mails: “I work across the street from LAX, with a grandstand view of the airport. I’m not sure about anywhere else, but I am seeing lots of planes taking off and landing. The traffic on the freeway during my commute, including on the ramps to the airport, were normal.”

Fausta in Princeton NJ blogs her eyewitness report from beautiful Princeton, NJ.

Update 3:31 p.m.: Robbie Cooper of UrbanGrounds heads down to City Hall in Austin, TX and discovers … a day without protesters.

Update 4:39 p.m.: Jennifer at Demure Thoughts blogs from San Antonio, Texas, where Hispanics outnumber non-Hispanics by 3 to 1, and says there’s nothing to see here.

Update 5:45 p.m.: Debbie Schlussel is in Detroit, where the news is reporting “thousands” of illegal aliens protesting. Says Debbie, it’s considerably less than that.

Update 9:15 p.m.: Justing Fleming points us to this Protest Warrior thread with photos from the Chicago protest. Here’s the last in the series; note the white sign.

Update Tueday a.m.: Two last reports to add to the mix. Phil C. has photos from Santa Ana, California, and New Counterculture is on the scene in Herndon, Virginia, with yet another report of low turnout.

Thanks to everyone who contributed!
