The United States is a “purple nation,” Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday, striking a bipartisan note as politicians come together to recover from Hurricane Sandy and as a key independent endorsed President Obama’s re-election.
“We gotta stop this blue and red. We’re a purple nation, man,” Biden said here, hours after New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s endorsement announcement.
“The essence of what he said is we’ve got to work together,” the vice president told the crowd of 475 gathered at the Opera House at Fort Dodge Museum. “We all got to be in this together.”
