Of course! The whole world was and is savage. Hitler proved that. Stalin proved that. Mao proved that. Idi Amin proved that. Pol Pot proved that. The Aztecs not only enslaved the people they conquered but they sacrificed some of them by cutting out their hearts while they were alive.
What Columbus did was unite the world. Oh, we are not all on the same side. Far from it. Life is not the I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing commercial for Coca Cola. But his exploration showed the world was wider than we thought. East met West thanks to Christopher Columbus. Until he came along, no one knew that on the other side of the world, we had neighbors.
