Reince Priebus puts GOP's machine in overdrive for Trump

In contrast, Mr. Priebus has made one turn after another in the direction of Mr. Trump rather than away from him. “I covet Reince’s good and solid advice,” Mr. Trump says. The RNC chairman is part of “my inner circle” and an “unbelievably valuable asset,” the presumptive presidential nominee adds.

He says he listens to suggestions from Mr. Priebus, who has told him to relax. “Anytime I feel like I’m getting off-track or too aggressive, I think of Reince,” says Mr. Trump.

The GOP chairman has essentially hard-wired the Trump campaign into the RNC’s well-funded and more-experienced political apparatus. “We’ve got a candidate who doesn’t have a huge infrastructure, but we do,” says Mr. Priebus. Joining forces “is very competitive with what Hillary has.”…

Bill Kristol, editor of the conservative magazine the Weekly Standard and a leader of the anti-Trump forces, derided Mr. Priebus in a tweet last week as an “obedient, compliant apparatchik willing to subordinate a grand old party to a new strongman.”
