Who's the lead Republican messenger in debt-ceiling talks?

Republicans have several disadvantages when it comes to coalescing behind a leader on the debt crisis.

First, there’s the presidential crowd. Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) says that the nation can glide past Aug. 2 and all that Congress needs to do is pass legislation to prioritize payments. She also said she would not raise the debt ceiling under any circumstance, terming the debate essentially a farce…

Then there’s the Senate problem for the GOP. McConnell unveiled a plan that would allow the president to raise the debt ceiling himself. It won support from Republican lawmakers like Arizona Sen. John McCain as well as some Democrats in the House.
