It's official: Boehner to be next Speaker

Eric Cantor from Virginia, who is now minority leader, was chosen as majority leader. The current deputy whip, Representative Kevin McCarthy of California, was expected to move up to the third-ranking post as House majority whip.

Republicans are also expected to choose Representative Jeb Hensarling of Texas as the Republican conference chairman, the party’s No. 4 post, after Michelle Bachmann ended her brief run for the spot. The post is being vacated by Mike Pence of Indiana.
