Just a reminder that allowing law-abiding and properly trained citizens to carry firearms enhances security for the entire community, not just for the citizen himself:

A northeast Minneapolis man said he interrupted an armed and bloody robbery at a corner market in his neighborhood, sending the two suspects fleeing when he drew his handgun from his holster and had it “at the ready.”

The confrontation occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday outside the University Market in the 300 block of 37th Avenue, according to police and the man who stepped in and halted the crime.

Store owner Mohamed S. Ahmed, 41, had the “back of his skull split open pretty good” from being pistol-whipped by one of the suspects, said Matt Dosser, the armed citizen who came upon the unfolding crime scene and cared for Ahmed until police arrived. …

The gunman “turned around and looked at me,” Dosser said. “He stared at me. I had my weapon up. I didn’t point the gun at the person. I had it at the ready, out of the holster.

His buddy said something to him, and then he had this surprised look on his face, and they both ran to his vehicle and took off.”

Kudos to the Star Tribune for fairly reporting the incident as well.
