Former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown plans to move to New Hampshire, the latest sign that he’s considering a U.S. Senate bid there, which would complicate Democrats’ effort to hold their majority in the chamber. Brown, 54, has found a buyer for his Wrentham home and is set to close on that deal this week, Andrew I. Glincher, managing partner and chief executive officer at Brown’s employer Nixon Peabody LLP, said in an interview. Brown will continue to work out of the law firm’s Boston office because he isn’t licensed to practice law in New Hampshire, Glincher said. Brown didn’t respond to an e-mail inquiry. The move will fuel speculation that Brown intends to challenge New Hampshire’s Democratic U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen, who is seeking re-election next year. Brown lost his Massachusetts Senate seat to Democrat Elizabeth Warren in 2012…Brown owns a vacation home in New Hampshire and made a number of public appearances in the state this fall. He is scheduled to headline the New Hampshire Republican State Committee’s annual holiday party on Dec. 19 in Nashua. Earlier this year, Brown won clearance to spend money from his federal political action committee in the state.

Brown’s family has deep roots in New Hampshire, a fact that he’s casually mentioned to local reporters and political audiences alike.  A source at the NRSC recently told me that the former Massachusetts Senator’s polling position in New Hampshire is surprisingly robust, a reality that’s forced Brown to take a hard look at jumping into the 2014 race.  His strength in a potential GOP primary could be challenged, however, by another rumored entrant:

For his part, Gregg — a popular former Senator and Governor — tossed cold water on 2014 buzz, telling the Union Leader that he’s “been there, done that.”  Republicans’ chances of netting six seats and reclaiming an upper chamber majority would improve considerably if the party manages to capture the New Hampshire seat currently held by Democrat Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.  She’s been at the forefront of vulnerable Democrats’ frantic charge to demand Obamacare “fixes,” and understandably so.  She owns this law, and dutifully repeated the lie of the year to help sell it to wary voters:
