NFL Week 12 open thread

Which Pittsburgh Steelers will show up in Kansas City tonight?  The one that dominated the Patriots, or the one that got beaten twice by the Baltimore Ravens?  Thanks to the Ravens win on Thanksgiving, Pittsburgh fans hope it’s the former and not the latter.  Teams this season have had trouble coming off of bye weeks and scraping off the rust, but the Steelers can’t afford a letdown against the Chiefs.  KC has a poor record at home (2-3), so Pittsburgh should prevail and keep playoff hopes alive, 28-19.

I went two out of three on Thanksgiving to move my record to 44-25.  Let’s pick three more games this week:

  • Vikings at Falcons — Christian Ponder continues to improve at QB for the Vikes, but the Falcons at home are going to be too tough for Minnesota to handle.  Without Adrian Peterson to power their running game, the Vikings will probably not even beat the spread.  Falcons 33-17 over the Vikes.
  • Bears at Raiders — Normally I’d give the edge here to Da Bears, but they lost Jay Cutler at QB for the next few weeks, and Carson Palmer is doing well at QB for Oakland.  At home, the Raiders should beat Chicago, 24-17.
  • Giants at Saints — I won’t be home to watch this game, but it should be one of the best games of the week.  The two teams have great passing offenses and mid-range defenses, but the Giants are dead last in rushing offense this year, and the Saints are playing at home.  Drew Brees will keep the Giants offense off the field and the Saints will go 5-0 at home with a 31-21 win.
