Reason TV: Unintended consequences from the best of intentions

In my earlier post on the ObamaCare rationing that ended up killing access to medicines for sick children, I noted that the outcome could not have been called an “unintended consequence” as the elimination of children’s hospitals from a previously existing discount program was explicitly written into the new law. However, Reason TV reminds us that we do often see unintended consequences from well-intentioned but naive and ignorant efforts to dictate outcomes. In the new video, Reason looks at three examples of unintended consequences from bad public policies, using a 1950s-era style that anyone who ever had to sit through a filmstrip presentation (remember those?) in elementary school will instantly recognize:
