That’s what the AP is reporting:
Al-Qaida announces it will release a new video of Osama bin Laden presenting the last testament of one of the Sept. 11 suicide hijackers.
Whose testament will it be? We’ve already seen Mohammad Atta and Ziad Jarrah laughing through their martyrdom videos, which were made about a year before 9-11. Wail al-Shehri and Hamza al-Ghamdi have also appeared in last-will videos.
One more question: Did the “revolting geek of mass proportions” write the script for the new one, too?
Update (AP): According to the Blotter, it’ll be Waleed al-Shehri, brother of Wail and a muscle hijacker on Flight 11. I wrote a long post last September about the supply of hijacker videos Al Qaeda is sitting on; read it all as they’ll be releasing these things for years to come. In fact, AQ released a video a year after 9/11 called “Nineteen Martyrs” that includes still frames from the various testaments they have. Here’s a screencap; Waleed al-Shehri is in the upper right-hand corner, appropriately adorned with a lavalier microphone.
And here’s a clip from “Nineteen Martyrs” so you can see it all in context. That’s Osama’s voice narrating, FYI.
It’ll be interesting to see if this new vid was shot contemporaneously with the one that came out a few days ago. I suspect it’ll be older.
Update (bp): While we’re waiting to hear from Osama, let’s hear from some of his allies. MoveOn.org is out with a new ad depicting Gen. Petraeus as “General Betray Us.” Har de har. Byron York dissects and destructs.
Update (AP): Nope, looks I’m wrong. The Blotter now says the new Osama intro was recorded in the same location as the other new tape.
Update (bp): A DKos diarist gives us a good exit question on the eve of 9-11: Who was more evil, Osama or Reagan?
