Indonesia bags big terrorist

Fred! must have stared him down:

Indonesian police today confirmed they captured Indonesian’s most wanted terrorist Abu Dujana in a raid on the weekend.

There has been intense speculation that the terrorist leader was caught in one of a series of raids by Indonesia’s anti-terror squad, Detachment 88, across central Java.

Indonesian national police spokesman Inspector General Sisno Adiwinoto confirmed the fugitive’s arrest at a press conference in Jakarta today.

“Abu Dujana has been arrested with seven others,” he said.

The capture is good news by itself, and it’s likely to lead to more good news:

Dujana is wanted in connection with a series of deadly bombings, including the 2004 attack on Australia’s embassy in Jakarta.

Dujana is also wanted for protecting Bali bombings mastermind Noordin Top, who until earlier this month had been in the No. 1 spot on the most wanted list.

The weekend arrests follow a series of raids in March, in which authorities uncovered a huge stash of hundreds of kilograms of explosives, weapons and chemicals.

Police also found charts detailing JI’s new structure.
