Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Tuesday that while there was some celebrating by American Muslims in New York on Sept. 11, 2001, Donald Trump is “exaggerating” when he said thousands of Muslims were cheering the attacks.

“We did have some celebrating, that is true,” Giuliani told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota on CNN’s “New Day.” “We had pockets of celebration some in Queens, some in Brooklyn — 10, 12, 30, 40” people.

Giuliani recounted hearing about a Muslim-owned candy store where some Muslims were cheering the attacks and were beaten up by children from a neighboring housing development…

“I don’t want to say he’s not telling the truth or not. Let him deal with it. Let him explain to people. Let him show the evidence of it,” Giuliani said. “If thousands of people were demonstrating and he saw it on television, then there must be some tape of it somewhere. If it shows up it will corroborate him. If it doesn’t show up it’s going to make him look really bad.”

The DC Media has spent the last two weeks attempting to destroy Donald Trump with lies. Outright lies, and they are doing so in order to protect a 14 year-old cover up. Not only have eyewitnesses and contemporaneous reports proven Donald Trump 100% correct about Muslims celebrating 9/11,  a just-uncovered  local CBS News (WCBS-TV in New York) report [by Pablo Guzman] completely vindicates Trump’s claim of “thousands and thousands” of Muslims celebrating the fall of the World Trade Center.

“Just a couple of blocks away from that Jersey City apartment the F.B.I. raided yesterday and had evidence removed, there is another apartment building, one that investigators told me, quote, was swarming with suspects — suspects who I’m told were cheering on the roof when they saw the planes slam into the Trade Center. Police were called to the building by neighbors and found eight men celebrating, six of them tenants in the building.”

“Swarms.”…

You have to add up all of the contemporaneous news reports. You are Donald Trump. You are taking in all the news during that awful week. You are told by the media that “swarms” of Muslims in a known terrorist’s neighborhood were seen on rooftops celebrating 9/11…

You hear radio news reports about Muslims celebrations.

MTV runs a news report about Muslim celebrations.

From all of those news reports, it is perfectly reasonable and nothing close to lying to put together a picture of “thousands”.

Trump claimed that he had seen reports of “thousands” of Muslims celebrating the 9/11 terror attacks on rooftops in Jersey City, New Jersey. On Tuesday, Eric Bolling, co-host of Fox News’ The Five, went further, saying there were media reports that people in Jersey City had been tipped off to watch the attacks…

Guzmán added that investigative sources had told him: “They saw something else: a model of the Trade Center on the roof, along with sets of binoculars–the kind of model used by an architect or engineer for a presentation, an investigator told me. They knew that the planes were going to hit, and they wanted a ringside seat.”…

Bolling was correct that there had been “news reports.” The CBS report is video proof.

None of this is to say that the underlying, substantive claims are true. For instance, here were eight men seen cheering in Jersey City, not thousands. But in Trump’s case–assuming the WCBS report is indeed the one to which he has been referring–it is easy to see how reports of “swarms” of suspects in the building could have been misinterpreted as referring to large crowds on rooftops.

Trump claimed he had seen television reports covering Muslims celebrating on 9/11. Those contemporaneous reports have now been found.

Dishonest left-wing outlets like MTV, National Journal and Mediaite are desperately spinning the revelation of these contemporaneous reports as proof  Trump lied. In a burst of Orwellian memory-holing, MTV even brought back one of the witnesses so she could recant her story 14 year later.

Nevertheless, all that spin cannot change the fact that news reports of American Muslims cheering the fall of the World Trade Center have been found.

It doesn’t matter what the witness says now, what matters is what Trump might have seen at the time, and what Trump saw were news reports on television about people in New Jersey celebrating the fall of the World Trade Center.

[I]n an interview with BuzzFeed News, Guzmán described the story as an early report based on speculation from law enforcement sources — which ultimately turned out to be wrong

“All the newsmen, I believe, were getting calls from people saying, ‘Hey, there’s people on the roof, you gotta do something about these people. But then when you went closer to check it out … there were people who were so pissed off that there was anybody cheering this, and that’s, I think, acceptable, that in a kind of a game of telephone it took on a different life.”…

“There wasn’t anything to support that there were co-conspirators living in Jersey City ready and waiting and, when it happened, cheering, or even that there were thousands of people that were sympathetic to that loss of life. There was nothing to back that up. Were there were some people? Yeah, and they were the kind of people that you wouldn’t want to be in a room with.”…

“Calling this a ‘hot address’ the task force investigators ordered everyone detained. They saw something else: a model of the Trade Center on the roof along with sets of binoculars,” Guzmán reported in 2001. “The kind of model used by an architect or engineer for a presentation an investigator told me. ‘They knew,’ he said, ‘that the planes were going to hit and they wanted a ringside seat.’”

“Some investigator seized on that to go ‘ah-ha!’” Guzmán recalled. However, he said it was later determined that someone was probably “telling their kids or somebody ‘this is how this could have happened.’ You know, using the model to illustrate what may have happened.”

For days and days now, news organizations have been testing Donald Trump’s claim that he’d watched “thousands and thousands” of Muslims in New Jersey cheer the 9/11 attacks…

On today’s edition of Fox News’s excellent afternoon roundtable show, co-host Eric Bolling tilted at the numbers. He told his colleagues that he remembered “specifically” news reports about people celebrating the attacks in Jersey City. “Whether or not it was a thousand, thousands, a few hundred, a handful: Who cares?”

Some don’t care, for sure. Everyone should care, however. The framing of “thousands and thousands,” after all, suggests that reveling in the mass murder of 9/11 bordered on a mainstream thing for Muslims in the United States. That’s the divisive and reckless aspect of Trump’s exaggeration/untruth/bald-faced lie. Those who buy his brand of politics might just suppose that if “thousands and thousands” of New Jersey Muslims were openly celebrating the attacks, surely many more thousands were silently doing likewise. It’s not hard to see just how such a claim could tear apart a society.

NICOLLE WALLACE: The fact that everyone’s afraid to take him on except Kasich, who’s running an ad that sort of taps into that, is the essential problem. And I could pre-tweet the attack on me before I say anything about him: “you dummy, you big jerk, you stupid, too stupid to keep your job at The View, Nicolle Wallace.” There you go, I wrote it for you, Donald. He is tapping into the most sinister sentiments in this country. People that are angry about the Obama administration…

JOE: He cannot offend his 23, 24, 25%. And you said the word “sinister.” Let me ask you, is my brother sinister? Because, I get texts all weekend back and forth. It doesn’t matter what it is. I get texts. Is your father sinister?

WALLACE: My father is listening to his dark angels.

Radio host Glenn Beck said Tuesday that Donald Trump acts like the radical community organizer Saul Alinsky.

“He is Saul Alinsky,” Beck insisted of the GOP presidential front-runner on his radio broadcast.

“[Trump] will isolate you and polarize you and he will take you out,” Beck said. “He will destroy you.”
