Via Mediaite, when was the last time a would-be president answered a policy question so terribly that he ended up losing endorsements over it? Usually it takes an admission of impropriety to force high-profile supporters to start recanting in public, but evidently that slow-motion car crash at the beginning of Cain’s take on Libya was enough to send Miller packing. Has that happened in the last 20 years or so, that a single Q&A was so damaging as to rise to the level of a scandal?
Cain was scheduled to sit down today for an interview with the most influential newspaper in New Hampshire but it fell apart at the last minute. They say he cancelled because he objected to another videotaped roundtable, his team says it was the paper that cancelled because they wouldn’t agree to an untaped, 20-minute-long chat like he wanted. Exit quotation: “The people that get on the Cain train, they don’t get off because of that crap. Who knows every detail of every country on the planet? Nobody!”
