I hear that a lot, but short of killing Muqtada al-Sadr two years ago, I’ve never understood what it meant in concrete terms. Pace said today that the gloves are coming off if we have to take on North Korea, though, so, er, good news, I guess!

Elsewhere, Daniel Pipes advocates withdrawal to the desert followed by a strict laissez faire approach. That won’t work, I’m afraid.
