If you happen to be unfortunate enough to live in Connecticut you’re used to hearing about taxes, suppression of the rights of gun owners and a host of other liberal transgressions. Now you can add a new item to the list of things you should be aware of because the language police may be on the way to monitor how you talk about gender. As the Daily Caller recently reported, the state’s Department of Children and Families has released a new glossary of terms designed to help you navigate the new world of transgender sensibilities and avoid saying anything which will earn you a stiff reprimand from your betters. For starters, you can forget about the term “racism.” In this brave new world, if you think there are only two genders defined by your 23rd chromosomal pair, you’re engaging in genderism. And the language lessons only go downhill from there.

According the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF), which published an LGBT glossary of more than 250 terms, the belief that there are only two genders — male and female — should be treated as “genderism.”

The guide, which was published as part of the DCF’s Safe Harbors Project and was last updated July 7, defines “genderism” as: “The system of belief that there are only two genders (men and women) and that gender is inherently tied to one’s sex assigned at birth. It holds cisgender people as superior to transgender people, and punishes or excludes those who don’t conform to society’s expectations of gender.”

“Gender oppression,” according to the heavily-Democratic state, is “The societal, institutional, and individual beliefs and practices that privilege cisgender (gender-typical people) and subordinate and disparage transgender or gender variant people. Also known as ‘genderism.’”

Right off the bat we should note that the preposterous preposition cis has made its way into official government publications. If you are still somehow blessedly unaware of this nasty little distortion of our language, LGBT Social Justice Warriors have been using it for a while as a way to disparage science and traditional understanding of biology. The Urban Dictionary goes to great lengths to explain the need for this pointless addition to the communal lexicon by defining Cis Hetero.

Cis Hetero

A heterosexual person whose gender aligns with what they were assigned at birth.
As a cis hetero woman, I was born female, I am a woman, and I prefer to date men.

Ah, if only Connecticut had chosen to stop there, but they came prepared with an entire new section of the dictionary for you. Here are just a few of the current entries which you’ll need to familiarize yourself with. First of all, LGBT is no longer in play. Now you’ll need to sign up for LGBTQI. (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning & Intersex.) And there’s plenty more beyond that.

Gayby: (Pronounced Gay-Bee) the child or children of a gay couple or individual.
Homophobic propaganda: propaganda based on homo-negativity and homophobia towards homosexual and sometimes other non-heterosexual people.
Gender gifted: a person whose capacity for gender expression exceeds the binary.
Bathroom bill: a defamatory term that was created and used by far-right extremists to oppose non-discrimination laws that protect transgender people.

This infection of the language was well underway before this point. Politifact went out of their way to do a “fact check” on a related story and declared it to be objectively false to refer to a “transgender woman” as a man. (A finding which Alex Griswold at Mediaite ably deconstructed)

Welcome once again to the brave new world of 21st century America. Language no longer has any true meaning and can be altered to suit the political winds of the moment as needed. Science – usually, though falsely claimed as the province of the Left when they want to talk about passing a carbon tax – can take a powder when it comes to figuring out if a baby is born male or female. It’s all on a spectrum now, and if you can’t grasp and accept that, the government will make sure you get your thinking cap on straight.

Oh, sorry… “straight” is probably a banned word now too.
