It’s … not so great, actually. Santorum does okay in taking it to him, but Gingrich practically shrivels when Romney calls him on his own past support for the mandate. Honestly, I’m not sure how productive these RomneyCare attacks are anymore at the debates. They’re useful to Mitt’s opponents in educating viewers on Romney’s record, but he’s well prepared for the attacks and the exchanges quickly devolve into either tu quoques or high-speed wonkery that most viewers probably won’t follow intently. This may plant a seed of doubt in undecideds’ minds about Romney, but the real damage done by attacks on RomneyCare will come via ads. And right now, Perry’s the only candidate in the field with the bank to pay for that. Click the image to watch.
