Over the last ten years, conservative attention has focused closely on fiscal policy and national security, but crime and law enforcement continues to be a signature issue on the Right. Thanks to a decrease in crime rates, that policy arena gets less attention that in historically has received, but that doesn’t mean that it has been completely ignored. I spoke with Vikrant Reddy of Right On Crime, an activist group that has pushed to get conservatives to focus on crime policies, especially on overcriminalization and prison reform. Their group has a diverse set of signatories for their statement of principles, including William Bennett, Grover Norquist, Ed Meese, Newt Gingrich, Richard Vigurie, Tony Perkins, and more. Reddy explains ROC’s mission and we walk through some of the practical applications in this 15-minute interview, which was my last from CPAC.
