I suppose Barack Obama wanted to offer this as an “I feel your pain” moment, but the problem is that he actually doesn’t — and won’t.  At a press conference in Lisbon last week, Obama tried to mollify anger over the new, intrusive TSA searches at airports by asserting that they are inconvenient indeed … and apparently so even for those special few who never have to deal with TSA:

One of the most frustrating aspects of this fight against terrorism is that it has created a whole security apparatus around us that causes a huge inconvenience for all of us.

All of us?  Not exactly, as Obama admits in his prefacing remarks, not unless the Secret Service gives Obama the TSA treatment before getting on Air Force One.  No wonder he’s occasionally late for his flight.

Got an  Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at [email protected] with the quote and the link to the  Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.
