“Piyush” being his given name but not the name he goes by. Quote:
For months last year, after it was clear Jindal was running, the Louisiana Democratic Party issued news releases referring to him as Piyush “Bobby” Jindal. The party stopped in January. A spokeswoman said the practice was ended not because it was offensive, but because it detracted from the substance of their statements…
“That’s his real name. It is not race-baiting,” [Julie Vezinot] said. “I see Bobby Jindal as presenting a facade. I think it is important to let people know who he is . . . to say this is what he actually is rather than the image he presents to the public.”
What could that possibly mean in the context of his name? Unless … they’re insinuating that he’s trying to “pass” for white, much like some of the more bottom-feeding members of the nutroots do when they pointedly refer to Michelle by her maiden name. The insult may be aimed at Jindal but it actually lands squarely in the lap of Louisiana voters, based as it is on the assumption that they’ll be less likely to vote for an “exotic,” non-white candidate. But his district already sent him to Congress and he’s ahead in the race for governor as we speak. Better try harder, boys.
And with that I must conclude the post and relinquish the high ground, thanks to the idiots on our side who pull this very same dirty trick with “Barack Hussein Obama.” Good work, guys!
