UK telecom giant suspends spokesman for anti-Muslim "racism"

He came up with a few timely new entries for the Devil’s Dictionary. And got an unpaid vacation for his trouble.

Oh no, this won’t do at all:

An article under Inigo Wilson’s name on the discussion site gives a series of definitions for “politically correct” terms.

One of the entries reads: “Islamophobic: Anyone who objects to having their transport blown up on the way to work.”

The post defines Palestinians as “Archetype ‘victims’ no matter how many teenagers they murder in bars and fast food outlets.

“Never responsible for anything they do – or done in their name – because of ‘root causes’ or ‘legitimate grievances’.”

Here’s his post at Conservative Home. Such things he says!

Disproportionateforeign affairs: Describes any act by USA or Israel…

Egalitarian – “if I can’t have one, then neither can you”. Shared misery much better than unevenly scattered joy…

Human rights – using the legal system to pursue political ends…

al Qaeda – Muslim ‘militants’ who for some reason or other continue to kill far more Muslims than people of any other faith.

And most gobsmackingly vile of all:

Hate-speech – “shut up!”.

There’s lots more, but that’s all my delicate constitution could take.

Serious question re: his employer: is the suspension bad politics but good business? The comments at the end of the Telegraph article suggest it might not be, particularly right now. Then again, who’s more likely to organize a boycott? The silent majority? Or “alienated British youth”?

Update: Conservative Home unloads on Wilson’s employer. The Mohammed cartoons are mentioned.
