Breaking: Pali jihadis say hostage has been executed (Update: Report says body has been found) (Chemical rocket fired?)

Not Gilad Shalit, the soldier being held in Gaza, but Eliahu Asheri, the 18-year-old who was kidnapped in the West Bank. Sons of bitches.

The IDF has arrested nine Hamas leaders, including the deputy prime minister and three other cabinet members.

Stand by.

Update: An Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade mouthpiece says they’re preparing “suicide bombers, car bombs, tunnels, and booby trapped donkeys” for the IDF’s incursion into northern Gaza.

Update: The incursion has begun.

Update: The BBC has a teaser up saying Asheri’s body has been found near Ramallah. No link yet. Israel National News has a brief item.

Update: The Age says Palestinian “security” has recovered the body.

Update: Correction — the IDF recovered it.

Palestinian sources told Ynet that a large IDF forces arrived at the wadi and located the body in a vehicle – apparently after receiving intelligence information. The body was then transferee by ambulance to army base Ofer for identification.

Update: If this is true, the wheels are about to come off: the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade says it fired a missile with a chemical warhead into Israel. The IDF denies it, possibly because they’re trying to keep the genie in the bottle.

Update: Haaretz has the scoop:

The location of Asheri’s body was tipped off to the IDF by a Palestinian militant arrested on Tuesday. Security forces found the body buried in a field, and determined that he was shot in the head soon after he was kidnapped on Sunday.

“Soon after he was kidnapped.” They let his family twist in the wind for days.

Update: The IDF has officially confirmed Asheri’s murder. There’s a minor discrepancy about where he was found:

IDF combat engineers on patrol late Wednesday night in Ramallah found Asheri’s body in an abandoned car in an open field. The youth appeared to have been shot to death, and initial findings indicated that he may have been killed as early as Sunday, Israel Radio reported.

Ynet also places the body inside a “vehicle.”

Update: Are you sitting down? A new Times editorial puts the blame for the brinksmanship squarely on Hamas.

Update: Israel National News says the jihadi in IDF custody who tipped them to the location of the body is also the prime suspect in the murder.

Update: The AAMB is threatening to attack Israel embassies if the IDF doesn’t pull out of Gaza immediately.

Update: Dan Riehl sends a link to video of the attack on Gaza at Sky News.
