Feel-Good Friday: Senator Fetterman's Passover Message Edition

Townhall Media

It is rare to see a politician evolve from one who runs on being a far-left progressive into a common-sense moderate with moral clarity on some very important issues of the day.

That is what has happened with Senator John Fetterman (D-PA). When he ran for the Senate, he was the Lt. Governor of Pennsylvania and seemed to be a run-of-the-mill progressive. He came out for all the pet items on the Democrats' agenda and received support from the likes of Bernie Sanders. Sanders and President Biden campaigned for Fetterman in Pennsylvania, supporting a candidate who had suffered a life-threatening stroke. The Republican candidate running against him, Dr. Oz, was a bad candidate who never should have been the Republican nominee. Fetterman won the election.

Fetterman may have been a supporter of Israel throughout his political career. He may have spoken out about the need for a secure southern border long ago. I don't know. I do know that he does both of those things now and it is important. He provides cover for other Democrats to boldly go where so many other Democrats will not go.

All I know is that Fetterman is getting it right.

"Send them home and surrender." Why isn't that the message coming out of the Biden White House every day? There are American hostages in Gaza. Where is the outrage, to quote the late Senator Bob Dole? I do not understand the silence about the American citizens being held hostage in Gaza. I hate to say it but does the administration know they are dead and doesn't want the grim reality to be publicly discussed? The Biden administration, from Biden on down, have shown weakness on the world stage for almost four years. Hamas is not afraid of Joe Biden. They may be afraid of Benjamin Netanyahu but not Joe Biden. Hamas hears that American Democrats are trying to hold back Netanyahu in his response to Hamas and Iranian attacks. It's election-year appeasement. It's dangerous.

Fetterman was stunned to learn that thirteen Democrats (and one Republican) voted against the House resolution condemning Iran's attack on Israel a few days ago.

This isn't a typical feel-good post of mine. In light of Passover beginning Monday night, Fetterman's message is timely and should make us all feel good.
