Hayden doubles down on "MAGAnuts" reaction to his call for senator's assassination

Some people turn out to be garbage people. It is particularly disturbing to find the former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and the first Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence under former President George W. Bush is such a person.

Retired General Michael Hayden has shown himself as a hyper-partisan against Republicans, particularly MAGA Republicans. His hatred for Donald Trump has turned his social media presence into one nasty tweet after another.

With that in mind, perhaps I shouldn’t be so surprised at the depraved level of contempt Hayden displays toward Republicans with whom he disagrees. In this case, it is Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL). On Monday, a person on X (formerly Twitter) asked if Tuberville should be removed from his committee assignments for his hold on military promotions due to his opposition to the Department of Defense’s new rule that women seeking abortions receive paid time off and are reimbursed for expenses if they travel out-of-state. Tuberville believes this new rule is a violation of the Hyde Amendment and placed a hold on military promotions and other actions until the Senate votes on the rule. Senate Majority Leader Schumer refuses to call the vote so the hold is still in place. Schumer doesn’t call the vote because he knows Tuberville will win.

Here is what happened Monday night.

Sounds like a former government official and retired military member is inciting violence, doesn’t it? Sounds a lot like assassination, especially in today’s volatile political environment. Shouldn’t someone in his position be held to a higher standard? Yet, nothing happens because he is a never-Trumper and that makes anything he says a-okay.

There was plenty of blowback to his ugly post. Many people tagged the FBI and intelligence agencies. If the FBI is busy monitoring school board meetings, shouldn’t the agency be interested in this type of threat to a sitting senator?

Did Hayden take a moment and ask himself if this is conduct becoming of his station in life? Nope. He doubled-down on the ugliness of his threat when he saw the criticism.

“I was surprised to wake up this morning and discover that many MAGAnuts had lost their minds over my suggestion that ‘Coach’ Tuberville not be considered a member of the human race,” Hayden tweeted on Tuesday. “I stand by that view. I’m wishing you all a nice day even the intransigent Tommy Tuberville.”

Like I said, he’s a garbage person. You ‘ll notice he used “considered” a member of the human race. He didn’t tweet that response and it wasn’t used in the original tweet to which he responded. That tweet said “remove” from the committee. Hayden simply responded “How about the human race?”, as in remove from the human race. Nice try, Hayden. That’s a cowardly move.

Thank you, Senator Tuberville, for oversight into bad policy coming from the Department of Defense. This does violate the Hyde Amendment. Schumer and the Defense Secretary know it, they just don’t care.

All Chuck Schumer has to do is call an individual vote on anyone of whom there is a problem with a promotion or nomination not going forward. He has done it with two individuals since Tuberville’s hold went in place. He can do more. Or, he can hold a full vote and be done with it. The pro-abortion wing of the Senate doesn’t have the votes and Schumer knows it. It isn’t just MAGA Republicans who object to Secretary Austin’s overreach in policy.
