Wait, what? Governor Abbott goes to NYC and praises Mayor Adams, Governor Hochul

While the rest of us were preparing to be bored or agitated and frustrated by the RNC debate Wednesday, Governor Abbott traveled from Texas to New York City to speak at the Manhattan Institute, a conservative think tank. He praised Mayor Adams and Governor Hochul for pressuring Joe Biden on the national crisis Biden has created with his border crisis.

It was a rare visit to New York for Abbott. He’s busy trying to secure the southern border because the president will not do so. He described the situation to his audience.

“What you’re dealing with in New York, what you are seeing and witnessing in this state is a tiny fraction of what’s happening every single day in the state of Texas,” Abbott said, making a speaking appearance at the conservative think tank the Manhattan Institute. Last year, more than 2.3 million people were apprehended coming across the border illegally, according to the Texas governor, who pointed out that is more than the population of Houston, which took over 200 years to aggregate. This year, about 2.4 million are expected to cross illegally, he said.

“It is all carefully, choreographically designed policy put in place by the current President of the United States of America,” Abbott said at the event hosted at the Yale Club. “It was just three years ago we had the lowest number of border crossings in 40 years. It’s kind of hard for people to understand or remember.”

“We as a nation are facing an extraordinary challenge, quite literally a national crisis, as we gather in New York today,” he continued. “There are ways in which Texas is stopping people from illegally entering, but the Biden Administration wants those people to come in. This is unsustainable, and those are the words of your Mayor. Those are the words of the Mayors of Chicago and Los Angeles. Those are the words of the Governor of Texas. What’s going on is unsustainable. It’s a crisis that’s chaotic and must stop. While we are waiting on a President who is going to enforce the laws – not even pass new laws – that are currently on the books, Texas is going to continue to use every tool we can to secure the border in the best way that we can.”

It’s hard to argue with any of that. Biden has deliberately created the humanitarian crisis and national security crisis with his lack of securing the southern border. He does not care. Biden leaves Texas and other border states to fend for themselves and when Texas acts, Biden and his DOJ move to shut it down. The Biden border crisis is intentional. Texas taxpayers have funded Operation Lone Star to the tune of $9 billion to build strategic barriers, deploy Texas National Guard soldiers and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers, bus migrants to sanctuary cities, and more.

Abbott asked Adams and Hochul to ask for more than money – they must ask for policy change.

Even when Abbott compliments them, Adams and Hochul slam Abbott.

“Let me be clear: I will not be taking advice from Greg Abbott,” Hochul said at an unrelated press conference Wednesday in Yonkers billed as an “Anti-Hate Crime Rally.”

A spokesperson for Adams’s office told CBS News, “New Yorkers deserve better than being trapped between a vicious game of political hot potato,” arguing that if the Texas governor wanted to be part of the solution he “would urge his Republican colleagues in Congress to collaborate with President Biden on desperately needed and long overdue immigration reform, instead of using this issue to gain cheap political points.”

Yeah, Governor Hochul. What does Greg Abbott know about the southern border anyway? Hochul has been doing such a bang up job that she shouldn’t listen to anyone else. What a petty, partisan woman. New York Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Anne Williams-Isom wants comprehensive immigration reform, which is code for everyone is welcome. But, everyone is not welcome. Those who break into our country and enter illegally should not be welcomed. They should not be offered a pathway to citizenship. They have not earned that privilege.

New York City will distribute flyers advising illegal aliens to go to cities with more economic costs of living. New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world, it explains to them. They are told not to bring their families to New York. It advises them that NYC will not put them up in hotels. The city has received 100,000 illegal aliens – only 15,800 from Texas – since the summer of 2022. The flyers will go across the country, including the southern border, and in New York City for illegal aliens already there.

Deputy mayor for Health and Human Services Ana Williams Isom showed the updated flyers during a City Council meeting, and said they would be used to combat ‘misinformation’ coming from social media or human traffickers about migrant services in the city.

‘We’ll be distributing these flyers at our shelters and intake centers in New York City, as well as through NGOs and nonprofits across the country,’ she told the meeting. ‘We know that there are people in our shelters that are telling their family members to come to New York City and that they’ll get housing … that has never been the case, but we want to make sure we’re being clear with people that New York City is out of space.’

It’s all fun and games declaring itself a sanctuary city until illegal aliens show up and have to be taken care of, right? They asked for it. Texas did not ask for the invasion at the southern border.
