Biden: GOP trying to make black votes "not even count" during White House Black History Month celebration

President Unity struck again Monday. A White House celebration of Black History Month was hosted by Joe and Jill, along with Kamala and Doug. About 150 guests gathered in the East Room. As we’ve come to expect with this president, there were cringe-worthy moments.

Sometimes I refer to Joe Biden as President Unity. When he ran for president, Biden pledged to bring Americans together and to unify the country. The truth is that Biden takes every opportunity to divide Americans, especially on racial issues. Remember back in 2012 when Mitt Romney ran for president and Biden told a mostly black audience that Romney wanted to put them back in chains if he won the election? Biden’s schtick hasn’t improved over time. The old man has gotten worse.

Biden is frustrated that a couple of the signature bills written by House Democrats cannot pass in the Senate. He took the opportunity during his remarks to trash opposition to the bills, which nationalize elections. Biden told the audience, which included members of the Congressional Black Caucus, state and local elected officials, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson, among others, that he isn’t giving up on the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.

“We’re protecting our country’s threshold liberty, the sacred right to vote, which I’ve never seen as under such attack,” Biden said. “You know, it’s always made it harder for blacks to vote but this is trying to be able to figure out how to keep the black vote, when it occurs, from even counting.”

Like I said, President Unity. His words don’t even make clear exactly what he is trying to say – what is the “it” to which he refers? He just wanted the audience to understand that black votes won’t count. That is the worst kind of race-baiting and Biden doesn’t care. Even in his doddering old age, he’s tossing word salads that demonize his opponents. Americans are divided more than ever on many issues and Biden has played a role in that. You can’t teach an old politician new tricks.

Last month, before the two bills failed to pass in the Senate, Biden took his show on the road to Atlanta. He went so low as to compare those who don’t support nationalizing elections and paving a way for a permanent Democrat majority in Congress as Bull Connor or Jefferson Davis or George Wallace. Biden, by the way, had a professional friendship with Wallace back in the day but he ignores that inconvenient truth now. Wallace was a Democrat. Biden is so desperate that he supports the elimination of the filibuster. The bills include setting a national standard for voter-ID laws and 15-day minimum early-voting periods. The John Lewis Voting Rights Act would allow the Justice Department to review election rule changes in districts with a history of alleged discrimination.

Biden didn’t specify how it is that black votes wouldn’t count because of evil Republicans. Does he think ballots are marked according to the voter’s race? How would a machine counting votes or an election worker know what the voter looks like as they count stacks of ballots? Biden’s rhetoric is cheap race baiting.

What’s a Biden speech without a name blunder?

He had trouble with the name of his Supreme Court nominee, too, as he encouraged support for her.

The president referred to Putin and “the Soviet Union”, too, before he corrected himself.

Yikes. This man is sitting in the Oval Office.

Kamala was introduced by Jill and that had its own crazy moment. Jill started to introduce “President” Kamala Harris before correcting herself. Then she tried to recover and say she was just making a joke.

‘Ladies and gentlemen, the president of – the vice president of the United States,’ the first lady said, drawing instant laughs when she corrected herself. Among those seen guffawing were the president himself.

She also had a joke her husband’s expense when praising DJ D-Nice, who was at the event in the East Room.

She credited him and his Club Quarantine for bringing us ‘so much joy during the dark moments’ of the pandemic.

‘Before we came out Kamala and Doug were saying how many times they were in their apartment and they were dancing together in a party of two. I can’t say the same of Joe – party of one,’ she said, earning laughs from a room packed with dignitaries.

Kamala “went off script” and we all know what happens when she does that.

“Because as we all know, elections matter. And when folks vote, they order what they want, and in this case, they got what they asked for,” Harris said.

The vice president riffed off her prepared speech for Black History Month after the crowd cheered her mention of President Joe Biden choosing a black woman, Ketanji Brown Jackson, as his Supreme Court nominee.

“I went off script a little bit,” she admitted with a laugh, before continuing with her speech

Bless her heart. Voting is “ordering” what we want. Is this what voters ordered, though, even Democrats who loyally support Biden? The highest inflation in 40 years and rising energy costs, pandemic mandates, runaway federal spending all make regular American life pretty unpleasant. I don’t think that is what voters were ordering, Kammie.

According to reporting, Biden shouted to the audience about getting the voting rights bills passed. “Pass the Freedom to Vote Act. We can do this!” Biden shouted. “The American people agree with us. Black and white! Hispanic and all!” And all. I guess that means Asian Americans and native Americans, among others. Good Lord.

Any American who can legally vote, can vote in America. Period. This whole trope about Republicans blocking black voters from voting has been disproven over and over again. Today is Election Day in Texas, the first primary in the country. The new election integrity law passed by the Texas legislature makes election laws uniform across the state. Rogue county clerks will not be allowed to change voting laws on a whim and blame the pandemic for it. Texas has had early voting for many years and actually increased the time period for it in the new legislation. There are many options for voters to make casting a ballot easier for people. Finally, voting machines will be divided up according to past voter turnout instead of just divided up equally among voting locations. That will help any long lines that the media gin up as proof of the hardships of some voters to cast a vote. Those lines were always the fault of local election officials, not state law.

President Unity has failed us all miserably and is in way over his head. President Harris is a nightmare, too. It is three more years before we can order up a new president. The midterm elections will bring about a red wave, hopefully a red tsunami, and the correction to Biden’s ineptness will begin.
