Alex Sink may be sinking yet again in Florida

How many of you remember Florida Democrat Alex (Adelaide Alexander) Sink? She made a run for Florida Governor a few years back, which – as Ed pointed out at the time – didn’t work out very well. And in an amazing show of gratitude, she blamed the loss on Barack Obama and the DNC, regardless of their significant financial support. But now she’s back, albeit with her sights set a bit lower. She’s running for yet another government payroll job as the representative for the Sunshine State’s 13th District. Unfortunately for her, reporters pinned her down on Obamacare and she came out swinging… in favor of it.

“Obamacare” is unpopular with a lot of people, but Pinellas Democratic congressonal candidate Alex Sink actually embraces it in a new television ad. She says its a better idea to fix the law, rather than simply repealing it.

The commercial also claims her Republican opponent David Jolly lied about being a lobbyist and lied on Sink’s health care record — but doesn’t explain how.

Not only that, when asked about the possibility of a balanced budget amendment to bring some sanity to the fiscal equation, she had an unapologetic response against it.

This might be an even more bold move than you think. Particularly in light of the trail of damage Obamacare has left in her home stomping grounds.

An estimated 14 million people purchase their own coverage because they don’t get it through their jobs. Calls to insurers in several states showed that many have sent notices.

Florida Blue, for example, is terminating about 300,000 policies, about 80 percent of its individual policies in the state. Kaiser Permanente in California has sent notices to 160,000 people – about half of its individual business in the state. Insurer Highmark in Pittsburgh is dropping about 20 percent of its individual market customers, while Independence Blue Cross, the major insurer in Philadelphia, is dropping about 45 percent.

Alex Sink clearly wants a government job at some level. She’s clearly willing to take whatever she can get and lay the blame widely if she loses. Perhaps she signed up for Obamacare in November and is still bitter? In any event, this is an R+2 district which can produce some tight races, so it will be one to watch on election night this November. That’s assuming that Alex doesn’t Sink herself before she gets out of the gate.

EDIT: (Jazz) My apologies. The special election is much sooner than that. It’s on March 11, and Joe Biden is even raising money for the Sinking ship.
