University moves Ben Shapiro event far from campus

A speaking engagement featuring conservative Ben Shapiro at the University of Minnesota, hosted by Young American’s Foundation, is bringing the suppression of campus free speech back into the spotlight.

The controversy centers on university officials’ plans to locate the event off campus.

In a post on their website, Young America’s Foundation called out the university for its attempt to quash the Shapiro event by moving it to a small venue:

“Young America’s Foundation’s campus lecture with Ben Shapiro has been sequestered to a desolate venue, miles from the main campus, as the University of Minnesota shows its anti-conservative bias.

Despite having massive demand, the U of M denied students venues that seat 800 to 1,500 people, instead relegating them to a 400-seat room without “any significant transportation routes nearby.”
