Judge blocks latest Trump travel ban hours before set to take effect

U.S. District Court Judge Derrick Watson issued a temporary restraining order Tuesday on President Trump’s executive order, which had banned citizens of eight countries from entering the U.S. due to national security concerns.

The restrictions had been slated to take effect at midnight. Watson ruled the plan violated federal immigration law.

Trump added Chad, Venezuela, and North Korea to the total list of eight countries whose citizens may not travel to the U.S., except for Venezuela, where only government officials were banned.
