Amazon’s founder finds Apollo rockets
Rusted pieces of two Apollo-era rocket engines that helped boost astronauts to the moon have been fished out of the murky depths of the Atlantic, Amazon.com CEO Jeff Bezos and NASA said Wednesday.
A privately funded expedition led by Bezos raised the main engine parts during three weeks at sea and was headed back to Cape Canaveral, Fla., the launch pad for the manned lunar missions.
“We’ve seen an underwater wonderland — an incredible sculpture garden of twisted F-1 engines that tells the story of a fiery and violent end,” Bezos wrote in an online posting.

I hope this isn’t foreshadowing the fate of this great nation…

Pretty neat, but there are plenty of F-1 engines spread around the country.
When he salvages An LM descent stage, ascent stage and a rover I will be really impressed.
Then for a really obscure reference, he can use one of the Vulture’s engines to get himself an iceberg.

They need to leave some stuff for the next form of life to find long after we’re gone.

Look on the bright side: the lunar modules and flag we left on the moon won’t be stripped for parts, burned by rampaging Muslims, stolen to decorate someone’s house, or crumbled by weather.
All you’ll need is a good enough telescope and one working eyeball to look up and see the American flag, still proudly standing next to the landers and equipment left behind so long ago.
I vote for schematics, history, and DNA samples of every living creature we can get a sample of. Whoever is advanced enough to make it back to the moon should be advanced enough to use it with some sense of responsibility; ie, Muslims will never get their hands on it because they’re physically incapable of getting that far.

Hard to get excited about old, rusted, inoperable engine parts. Free shipping over $25?

Brewster’s Millions?

Nope, but that scene in the movie was taken from it.
Dang, I’ve provided all the clues necessary…Opie. Or maybe I should make that Barney.

I remember the show you are hinting at, thought it was neat back when it came out, but the series flamed out quickly, not unlike Firefly.

After the pilot movie, there wasn’t really much they could do with Salvage 1. The silly iceberg episode showed that.

Quark on the other hand. That could have been good.
