I should add, the voters who keep you there are not doing our Republic a favor!

I’m not an ageist but I do object to those who believe they are entitled to the position. Look at some of these guys: Kennedy, the KKKegel, Specter… etc. Even when they were physically unable to do their job, they would not retire.

I have nothing against older politicians(Reagan, anyone?). The problem with members of Congress who are elderly is that many of them have been there for so long that they become these establishment types with a sense of entitlement who are completely out-of-touch with the rest of the country.

An aged statesman offers wisdom, perspective, and steadfast character.

Not so much an aged politician who’s an establishment do-you-know-who-I-am kind of guy who resents anyone stealing the limelight or showing him up..

Nothing wrong with old people at the helm — the previous leader of my church died at age 98 I think, and was putting in a full day’s work until about 5 days before he passed. We did quite well under him, too.

But age should mean wisdom, not crankyness and so forth. McCain is the latter.

McCain has become quite adept at misquoting and strawmanning Republicans he disagrees with. He did it with the filibuster and he’s doing it now.
