“There really is a sea change in the evangelical world on immigration reform”
The Evangelical Immigration Table came out Monday in support of a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
In a statement released Monday in conjunction with a press call, the organization laid out its contention that a “just and fair immigration system” should include “earned” citizenship.
“This call is rooted in our biblically informed commitment to human freedom and dignity,” the group said. “American democracy is anchored by the conviction that all human beings are created in God’s image, and should be treated with dignity and respect. For those who have earned the right to live permanently in the United States, citizenship is a natural next step.”
“It is actually very remarkable the degree to which there is a consensus among our members on this subject. It was at one time an issue that was rather hotly debated,” the statement added.

Didn’t we see this already?

Yes, yes…let’s quote Jim Wallis and pretend his lunatic utterances are credible. That will be fun!

What.a.joke. I only comment to do a disclaimer for those who might be fooled by this.
Wallis and Sojourners are no more evangelical than the man in the moon or else the word has become infinitely malleable (always a possibility).
I really wish Wallis would quit pretending, but then he wouldn’t be the media’s favorite “evangelical,” would he? He wouldn’t get any press if he admitted he was an out and out lib.

It speaks volumes of the ignorance of the Daily Caller that it falls for this.

Sometimes I comment on Wallis’ blog. Occasionally I get to share parts of the Gospel. Many of his readers & followers (and guest bloggers) don’t get it.

Do we need another reason to ditch the whole Christianity thing? Not only is the Catholic Church pro amnesty – as well as all the other facets of “social justice”, but the Protestants are getting in on the action, too – starting with those insufferable Evangelicals. The whole religion is suffused with a pity ethic at the same time it tells you who is going to hell for not joining it.
That religion can’t die off soon enough. It has been in bed with all the regressive forces throughout history.

Did you read any of the comments above? It’s been mentioned that Wallis isn’t an evangelical.

I forgot to mention that that’s an incredible straw man.

We? You’re on your own.

Absolutely, and evangelical groups like this should be (but aren’t) at the forefront of providing comfort, aid, and charity to those illegal aliens who are being legally detained, transported, and deported back to their home countries.
Yes, and that would be legal aliens, and they don’t need an advocacy group, evangelical or otherwise.

I was going to ask: Is this another message from that religious quack Jim Wallis?
Isn’t he a regular on MSNBC?
