Conservatives must build a “bite me” coalition
These young folks have bought into the notion that conservatives are somehow obsessed with other people’s sex lives, which is false – conservatives are obsessed with their own sex lives, as the CPAC meat market demonstrates. But the wacky notion that some conservative is going to climb in their bedroom window to interrupt their trysting by making them pray has convinced this huge demographic to support an ideology that leaves them burdened with student debt and living in their parents’ homes – and thus unlikely to ever have sex to begin with.
The key to defeating this residual cultural affinity is twofold. First, conservatives need to avoid feeding old stereotypes with boneheaded maneuvers like making idiotic pronouncements about rape and writing jerktastic articles about how being a gay conservative is the result of a Marxist conspiracy. Remember, these young people grew up being taught to be tolerant. They’ll be tolerant of anyone – including hardcore Christians – who are themselves tolerant. We don’t have to accept anything we consider immoral – we just have to not be jerks about it.
Second, conservatives need to emphasize the pro-freedom agenda that both demographics share. Millenials have no desire to be dictated to about their snack options or hellfired by some drone either. Nor do they want to get arrested for jailbreaking their iPhone or sued for a $100,000 for downloading the latest terrible Mumford & Sons song. And for the few who have found jobs in the Obama economy, the tax bite on their pay stubs is just as unwelcome.
Call it the Coalition of the Unwilling to Be Bossed Around.

Wonder if TownHall.com would consider trading Mr. Schlichter for Mr. Shaw… =]
Jeddite on March 19, 2013 at 8:33 PM
Wait. We have to include the Vice Perpetrator in this?
Lanceman on March 19, 2013 at 8:37 PM
Schlichter was one of these aholes tweeting nonstop that if you didn’t oppose cpac’s refusal to allow goproud to set up shop at their convention, you were a bigot. So, the hell with Schlichter.

Except that “tolerance” isn’t and has not been enough. They want our complete and unequivocal surrender on it.
Liberals do not behave like adults and cannot be reasoned with. It’s baffling that this is still under discussion.
We are at war – abortion on demand (right Dr. Gosnell?), sexualization of children, destruction on first/second amendments, destruction of families, government overcontrol, etc, etc, etc. all courtesy of the liberals and we are to be “tolerant” because they’ll like us better?
I’m not seeing the win here.

I agree Kim Roy. Most gay advocates aren’t interested in tolerance. Until everyone accepts their lifestyle, they will not stop. To think they will is folly.

How about conservatives build a conservative coalition?
Moderates and libs like to use the word conservative, but they gut the meaning. It’s a cover for them, not a reality.

Yes.

I’ll keep ya, Jazz!

I agree too. Here’s my most recent example. I’ve posted this gripe several times, but it still makes my blood boil.
Here, in Cincinnati, an “anti-bullying” LGBT group had a fit when their invitation to participate in this past weekend’s St. Patty’s Day network was revoked. Don’t ask me why they were included last year. But why do parents who are taking their young kids to an innocuous St. Patty’s Day parade have to explain to their 7- and 8-year-olds what a gay, lesbian, and transwhatever person is? Phuck these people. At that age, sex is a family matter for the parent to take up naturally when they choose.
Fine, protest at the gay pride parade or at the federal builiding or the county courthouse. I’m not suggesting that they be locked in a closet. But they don’t have the moral authority of blacks fighting for the right to vote. They are protesting for the authority to require others to celebrate their SEXUAL CONDUCT (what they do, not what they are) from the highest mountaintop and from sea to shining sea. I’m sick of these anti-child, anti-family sh*theads.

Yes.
How about someone who can clearly and concisely articulate conservative/constitutional principles and do the same with how liberalism is destructive (see my laundry list above for starters plus add your own) and give people a clear choice?
If people are still willing to embrace liberalism, then being “tolerant” is not going to make an ounce of difference.
kim roy on March 19, 2013 at 8:55 PM
I agree with building a coalition..

Add a player to be named later and cash considerations and maybe the suits at Salem will listen to your offer.

Doesn’t this idiot know that the New York law wouldn’t have banned Big Gulps, only large drinks in restaurants?
